Distract Yourself Whilst Exercising

I know how hard it is when you want to start losing weight and decide that you should exercise more. Fitness weight loss is very healthy as long as you manage to motivate yourself to start and continue it.
You subscribe to the gym or you buy some weights and you start to exercise. After 5 minutes, you’re tired, fed up and want to stop. After the bad experience, you decide not to do workout again and sink back into the bad old routine.

The thing is that fitness exercising isn’t easy at all. When you start you find it OK, but after you become tired, it hurts. The lactic acid building up hurts, but the only thing you can think about is the pain because you have no distractions. This is where the issue lies – not in getting tired but in having a lack of distraction. The phrase ‘time flies when you’re having fun’ is no more relevant than here. It stands to reason; if you are taking your mind off the pain then you will keep exercising and will lose weight.

So what’s the best way to distract yourself when you want to get on the exercise machines at the gym? The answer is pretty simple; music. This workout tip is really important. Take an MP3 player with you to the gym and you’ll find that the exercise is nowhere near as arduous. There are also additional benefits to listening to music whilst working out.

The beat of the music is very useful in getting you into a rhythm, whether on the treadmill or the fitness bike, and means that you will work at a good pace for a longer period of time. Also, it’s very good for helping you to set targets. You can say to yourself, ‘I’ll do another 50 laps by the end of the next song’. Again, this sets you easy targets and keeps your mind off the pain that you may be feeling.

If you are at home and decide that you don’t want to listen to music or don’t have an MP3 player, you could always watch something on TV. There are two types of programme that you can watch. The first is obvious; a programme that you enjoy watching. Obviously, if you enjoy the programme then you’re going to be more focussed on watching it than you will be on the pain. Or, you can watch a really engaging film, with either excitement or intrigue. There’s nothing like a gripping storyline to take your mind off the exercise!

So, watch TV or listen to music! Taking your mind off exercise is essential if you want to keep the regime up!
