The Cabbage Soup Weight Loss Diet

Ok, it doesn’t sound the most appetising and, particularly when we were children, the cabbage was always the last thing that we would choose to eat. However, cabbage soup can be made so as to not taste of cabbage and, as long as you don’t go overboard and start putting in ingredients that will obviously stop you losing weight, it is an incredibly good way to change your diet slowly.

The reason why cabbage weight loss is achievable is because cabbage is water based, and water doesn’t contain many calories. In essence, soup is also water based; similar to a stock. Because you don’t take in many calories through eating soup it can act as a catalyst to losing weight. Of course, to only have cabbage in soup is not enough to sustain the body throughout the day. It is because of this that you add other vegetables. Apart from adding flavour and a few extra calories to a water based meal, it also adds bulk which helps to fill your stomach up, meaning that after you have eaten cabbage soup you are less inclined to snack.

It is good, therefore, to know a cabbage soup recipe that you can use to make the soup should you feel inclined.

Ingredients for Cabbage Soup Recipe:
1 head of white cabbage

6 Green Onions (Large)

2 Green Peppers

2 Cans Chopped Tomatoes

1 Bunch Celery

1 Package Onion Soups Mix

1-2 Cubes of stock (if desired)

Carrots (if desired)

Mushrooms (if desired)

How to prepare the Cabbage Weight Loss Soup:
Cut all vegetables into small pieces and cover with water. Boil quickly for 10 minutes. Reduce to simmer and continue cooking until vegetables are tender. Season to taste with salt, pepper, parsley, etc.

The best thing about soup is that you can make it in any sized batch. You don’t even have to scale up all the ingredients by the same amounts; the fantastic thing about soup is that you can experiment to your heart’s content – unlike other foods where the ingredients are very much fixed. If you make a large batch then any time you feel peckish you can have a bowl of soup; it fills you up sufficiently whilst not adding too many calories to your daily intake.

    Thanks for that, and for any readers that are having difficulty chopping onions without the tears, here’s an incredibly easy tip – put them in the fridge for a few hours, then chop them straight away after taking them out! No more tears!
